About
In the fire alarm industry since 1980. Founder of A&R Systems and The Signal Source. Now consulting independently on notification and gas detection design for hazardous and classified locations.
Rhett's career began in 1980 with the founding of A&R Systems, a fire alarm distribution company representing leading manufacturers including Siemens, Edwards and Gamewell.
In 1995 he founded The Signal Source in Santa Cruz, California, initially distributing Federal Signal devices. Over the following decades it grew into a leading independent distributor of hazardous location and explosion-proof audible and visual signaling, serving commercial, industrial and marine markets. In 2020 The Signal Source joined the E2S Warning Signals group.
Along the way, Rhett served for decades in leadership roles with the California Automatic Fire Alarm Association (CAFAA), organized in 1970 — as a Board Director, and nominated as President on three occasions.
Rhett Day Consulting puts that application experience to work directly for designers, contractors and owners — independent of any manufacturer, with no products to sell.
